480418_wl_aa_2.jpgThe concept of teaching children at home starts the day they are born. As we live in a  family surrounded by our grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins and of course siblings. The children learn everything from the adult or more from their siblings as what ever they do the younger one copies.

It is seen if the elder one is a girl and the younger a boy. The younger one starts talking in the same manner i.e like a girl. It is easier for the parents in this environment to raise kids as they do not have full responsibility which is shared by grandparents and other members of the household.

Now, since last 5 to 10 years after the nuclear family started it has become a difficult proposition to take care of children and to teach them Specially where both the parents are working. But still the grandparents are always ready to take care of the children by coming to their houses or taking them to their own for the day and teaching them all.

If the parents do not have any of the grandparents living nearby they rely on the local cretch to look after the kids and teach them good manners as they are managed professionaly and the children are cared for. The teachers as they are called take care of their needs and give them their food and put them to sleep if they are very small. They take care of kids from the age of 2 years.

The parents have to look at the background of the cretch and people managing it before they enrol their kids in it and they have to keep a watch for the first few months and also they have to know how the children are adapting to the new environment.

113870_homework.jpgA home school is a school in which parents teach their children at home instead of sending them out to a public or private school. Home schooling is legal in many parts of the world. Home schooling is most popular in USA, UK, Canada and France.

Your child is a unique one; we can never compare one child with the other. Keeping this in mind, learning ability, interest and needs too differ from child to child. So setting one pattern of teaching all the children together is sometimes not successful. Due to this reason, many parents opt out to home schooling for their children.

There are many benefits of home schooling; few of them are listed below:
• There is no need to wake up your kids at a particular hour in the morning every day, rush them to school with lots of instructions and then wait for them to come back home
• You have a total influence over your kid and hence, can positively affect his growth.
• You as a parent would know about your child’s needs and so, will do it accordingly.
• You will be able to tailor the educational syllabus as per your child’s interests and needs.
• You can pay individual attention on one particular subject, which your child finds it hard to grasp. No fixed hours are given to one particular subject, timings and teaching pattern can be decided as per your child’s abilities, interests and comfort level.
• More quality time with the family, it brings children closer to the family. It also keeps your kid away from negative forces that sometimes school surroundings have.
• Lack of competition in home schooling is beneficial as the child is self-confident.
• Every parent has his or her own moral and religious teachings; this can be easily imparted in home schooling. Parents can easily integrate their own philosophies and ideas into their child’s educational syllabus.

Sometimes parents decide to home school their child because they themselves have had a very bad experience with their own public schooling. In public schools children are segregated mainly based on the age and not as per their IQ’s, they either are put under tremendous pressure or are left out easily.

Home schooling is one of the best options for schooling as only you appreciate and understand your child. If you have time, ability and motivation to teach your child then just go ahead with his education.
